Know your new writing coach – Neil Gaiman!
Neil Gaiman was more of a comic book writer than a novelist.
However, he had garnered the same amount of respect and accolades from both of his main works, as well as being a screenwriter and voice actor among others.
Neil was heavily influenced by lots of contemporary literature that he enjoyed reading while he was young. He has written more comics, including a Batman story arc, and even an episode of Doctor Who.
He has released novels both written alone and with co-authors. His newest solo novel, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, also won several awards.
American Gods won several major horror/fantasy/sci-fi awards in both England and America.
Since the release of American Gods, Gaiman’s influence and popularity have blossomed. Other notable works Neil Gaiman wrote include the award-winning novels Stardust, American Gods, Coraline, and The Graveyard Book.

Neil’s Masterclass Lesson Plan – In a nutshell!
Before digging into deeper details about his Masterclass lessons, let me give you a quick outline of what you will get to learn from Neil’s 19 lessons storytelling course.
- Lesson 1 is a short general introduction to your new teacher and to the class.
- Lectures 2-5 address basic aspects of writing and the importance of developing your unique voice and message. How do you use fiction to express a deeper reality (the “lie”)? What stories would you like to tell? What can you tell them? What kind of voice does it feel most natural for you? These are the subjects that are discussed here.
- Lesson 6 is a case study based on the story and plot.
- Lessons 7-8 cover short fiction and train you to write memorable imaginative short stories.
- Lessons 9-14 move through specific topics such as dialogue, descriptions, and humor to help you fine-tune those essential elements of a good story.
- Lesson 15 is on comics: I don’t have any personal comics experience, but I found that lesson incredibly enjoyable. Trying something entirely new and special is also a perfect way to set off your imagination.
- Lessons 16-19 turn to the writing process; you will learn how to overcome the block of writers, how to manage your time, how to edit your work, and how to make steady progress as an author.
I consider the class well organized overall. If you follow it straight from start to finish, it continues in a sensible order but you can also choose individual lessons as you want.
Office Hours + Class Interaction
The Masterclass also includes “office hours,” which gives you the opportunity to ask Gaiman questions personally and get a response via video. I’m too nervous to try that yet, so I’ll have to get back to you on that one!
Highlights of Neil Gaiman’s Masterclass!
Now that you have got a rough sketch of what is involved in Neil’s Masterclass, let me share some of the highlight segments of the course that you should really pay attention to in order to learn the art of professional storytelling and comic book writing.
Finding sources of inspiration for your story
Neil Gaiman clearly has an amazingly vivid imagination.
So, I was very surprised to find that much of his inspiration for his writing comes from everyday life. In this lesson, he also explains how to take a story, deconstruct it, and rework it. He demonstrates this technique by re-interpreting some classic fairy stories.
These are just two examples of where you can get inspiration for a story.
Neil Gaiman Masterclass Review provides you with several others during this video and the rest of the course.
Finding your voice
When Neil started this section, I can remember feeling a little irritated. I could not understand why finding your voice is important.
But, by the time I reached the last part, I could see why every writer needs to find their voice.
Perhaps additional significantly, Neil Gaiman’s Masterclass Review explains how to find and develop the voice of your characters.
How to develop your story?
As a writer, you are playing a game with your readers. Neil calls this the “what’s going to happen” game. You keep them guessing, which motivates them to carry on turning the pages.
Neil explains a way to structure your story so it attracts your readers.
One of his best tips is to write down everything you know about the story, the characters, and the subject. Kind of like brainstorming for one person.
When you do this your mind starts to notice connections.
As you go ahead, a single idea is embellished and starts to form a mass. A part of work that you can then shape and craft into your story.
How to develop a story for short fiction?
Short stories are not really my thing. I rarely read them and I have never written one. So, I confess I skimmed over this section of the course. At least the first time I took the course.
The fact that Neil spent the primary four minutes of 1 video, in this section, reading a story aloud did not help.
Plus, at this point, the fact that Neil speaks very slowly began to frustrate me a bit. However, that said, if you want to learn how to write this genre I am sure you will find it helpful.
For example, his tip about minimizing the number of words you use, when writing a short story, seems counter-intuitive. But, I know, from experience, that this is excellent advice.
I write a lot of blog articles, so know for short pieces, less is definitely more. The more concise you are the better it reads.
In fairness, the case study video was excellent too.
You will love the unique way he came up with the plot for his Blackberry piece called “March Tale”. But, once again, it was the workbook I learned the most from.
The writer’s art of world-building
This part of the course was fascinating. Neil describes it as “getting to play god”.
Interestingly, Neil’s advice is to start the process of creating your world by spending time in real places.
Really experience it, notice the noises, the smells, the things that make them different. Asking you weird questions like how do all these people get fed?
It will help you to embellish the world you are building. A process that makes it seem more real. His tip on how to work out the rules in your fictional world is a particularly interesting one.
How to incorporate humor into your stories?
Neil Gaiman says that humor is good for anything you do. Something I agree with but struggle to inject into my writing. Sadly, I don’t think I will be solving this problem any time soon.
In this video, Neil reads an entire kid’s book and then explains what he did to create it.
The problem is I don’t see it as a funny book. It is quirky and fun, but not comedic, which is what I thought Neil was going to cover in this section of the course. So, I was a bit disappointed.
But there are still some sensible tips in there.
For example, putting a funny word at the end of a sentence. Plus, I got to hear about his work with Terry Pratchett and how he made his readers laugh.
Things I enjoyed learning at Neil’s Masterclass!
Neil Gaiman’s Storytelling Masterclass is truly a fun learning experience for everyone, whether a newbie or a pro.
He explains some trivial but very crucial aspects that a writer should always keep in mind to start writing a decent script and then transform it into a masterpiece.
Here are a few of the things about his Masterclass course which I really liked!
Understanding and meeting your reader’s expectations
If you want to sell books, lots of them, you must not disappoint your readers. So, it is great to see Neil explaining how to understand what your readers are expecting from you and how to meet those expectations.
Doing this is not as complicated as it seems. Working out if you are writing a genre book is step one.
Once you understand if that is the case, it is relatively easy to understand what the reader is expecting to see included in the plot.
Provided you weave these in, in some form or another, your reader will not be disappointed.
Developing your characters and writing realistic dialogue
It was clear from this section of the course, that getting the dialogue right is essential when it comes to character development. Something that I can tell you from experience is very hard to achieve.
I once had a job transcribing interviews, and writing a shorter version. Whittling 5 or 6,000 words down to about 1,500, while still sharing the main points was tricky.
The fact that I had to reflect the voices of the interviewer and interviewees too, made things even harder. I ended up loathing that job and gave it up.
If I had taken this course before starting that job, I am pretty sure I would have found things a lot easier.
Neil explains, in detail, how to give your characters their voice. His method is to start with how that person looks and decide what their characteristics are.
Where they have come from and how that has shaped the type of person they are. However, there were things I could not quite grasp in this part of the course.
I struggled with the idea of tapping into the part of you that is female or old when you are a young man.
Neil assures his students they can do this, but, I was not convinced, which is one reason I doubt I will ever become a fiction writer.
Learning how to edit your stories!
Editing is not easy when you’ve written something. You just don’t see the flaws.
This is the case when you’re writing a letter, an essay, or a blog post. You will need to test the story and see it through your reader’s eyes with something chunkier like a novel, script, comic, or play.
That complicates the process even further. Luckily Neil will take you through everything, step by step. Plus, he explains everything in his workbook.

Entrepreneur Aaron Rasmussen and film editor and director David Rogier started Masterclass in 2015. Based in San Francisco, it’s an online education platform for creative professionals.
Of course, you don’t need to travel to San Francisco to take a Masterclass. You can watch Masterclass courses using your computer or phone and consume the materials at your own pace.
As a student, you can learn the art of comedy from Steve Martin, writing thrillers from James Patterson, dramatic writing from David Mamet, screenwriting from Aaron Sorkin, and lots more.
It is a great way of learning online from top creators you would not normally have access to. To get the latest discount on masterclass check out the latest Masterclass discounts & coupons.
Who is Masterclass For?
The Masterclass is for writers, photographers, artists, musicians, painters, and creative professionals. It’s ideal for students who are happy to learn at their own pace using a computer.
Unlike Lynda or Treehouse, Masterclass is suitable for writers, musicians, artists, and creative professionals.
This is an interesting niche. Many of the opposite online courses I’ve taken facilitate students to learn business skills like promoting or additional sensible skills like writing or internet development basics.
The masterclass isn’t ideal for people who thrive in classroom environments and prefer a more hands-on approach from teachers.

Final thoughts about Neil Gaiman’s Masterclass Review 2023
The standard of the Neil GaimanMasterclass group, which provides a reasonable degree of interaction and motivation, has generally impressed me.
Some learners took advantage of the community to swap drafts and get feedback.
Additionally, you should bear in mind that completing this class requires self-discipline and making the most of it. If you’re already an independent learner, then an online self-styled class is perfect for you.
However, if you’re struggling to remain disciplined in the absence of external accountability, you may have more trouble.
I would advise you to take the class with a friend and agree to a schedule to keep each other on the course.
Neil Gaiman’s Masterclass On Social Media
So many observations, in truth.
Finding Your Voice – having recently waded through over 100 indie books in order to buy five, it struck a chord.
And Neil’s scepticism around some of “the rules” of writing. #tellthestory

Before I start editing, I’m diving into a few Neil Gaiman Masterclass videos @neilhimself. So excited to listen to one of my absolute favorite authors and writing idols. His writing advice is hanging in my office and I use it to motivate me when I get blocked.

I can’t believe I’m doing this; but here goes. Neil Gaiman Masterclass is by far the best course for aspiring comic book writers that exists today. After finishing, I was not only interested in writing comics like before, but also confident because of the inspiring people who had attended to much as he has! You should feel bad if you haven’t checked out his course yet; it’s honestly one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Give yourself enough time because this will really make all the difference too!
Neil Gaiman’s Masterclass. I love it! I’ve always loved books, comics, and Neil himself. When he came out with this class on how to become a novelist, I had to take the opportunity. He does something very different in his approach – which is what makes him so great after all these years of writing for me – but then there are also parts that are applicable to more than just comic book writers. His quick wit resonated with me throughout … mores movies were pretty good too, though you have to buy them separately 🙂 i recommend this course too much.
I’ve been a comic book reader for many years now, even though I can’t say that I’m very good at it. Of course, there’s the fact that reading comics isn’t necessarily an easy thing to do if you want to get into them because there are so many issues and different stories going on all at once in one frame. If you’re looking for a way to jumpstart your creativity in this regard or take up a new hobby altogether, Neil Gaiman Masterclass is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Neil Gaiman Masterclass is a phenomenal way to be introduced into the writing of comics. The course leads you through all the basics, including how to visualize your characters and settings. You will also get insight from Neil himself on how he became so successful in this industry as well as insider knowledge about agencies and publishing houses that often take submissions for comics. Even if you’re not interested in becoming a comic writer, this course offers an incredible way to hone your skills across many other kinds of creative writing!
Interesting, Useful and Engaging. These are the words which came to my mind when I read this book. The course features a series of lessons from Neil Gaiman, in which he discusses his life as a professional writer with advice on specific aspects of comic writing such as dialogue or plot-building. In every single lesson there is the presence of an activity for readers which makes it even more appealing! If you’re looking for a book that will not just help you refresh your knowledge but also motivate you into finishing your own stories then this might be what you need. i dare all writers who dream about achieving their goals to look no further than “Neil Gaiman Masterclass” today!!
This masterclass is the best thing on the internet. Why? Well, for starters, Neil Gaiman had a substantial amount of experience in writing comics and novels. So for those of US who are into that genre then this is the course to learn from! I LOVE THIS.
I will only conclude by saying ….The course is of high quality and there’s a lot of useful information that you can get out of it. You can practice your storytelling skills with the help of Neil Gaiman himself.TRY IT.
This course is perfect for writers and readers alike. Co-taught by iconic author Neil Gaiman and sound designer Pippa Tshabalala, this program manages to be both informative and entertaining. With a wide variety of writing tools, the Neil Gaiman Masterclass offers up new ideas to explore your creativity. This course is comprehensive without being overly complicated – you’ll find that it’s easy to take what you’ve learned from class into your own work immediately! Highly recommend.
This is an absolute steal, and I know that with the information you’ll learn from Neil Gaiman’s Masterclass. You will be able to start writing your comic book with no problem. The videos are all short and straightforward so there is no need to worry about boredom or his pacing is too slow. They go over all the basic elements every comic has, such as plotting and how to write dialogue for both action scenes and casual conversations, so there really isn’t any way not to succeed with this course!
I’ve been a Neil Gaiman fan for a lot of years now. I bought his Masterclass expecting it to be about the literary masters, but only two of those topics were touched on. When he was talking about his own work and how he felt as an author, I found myself smirking at the genius involved. Even if you don’t want to write comic books, this is still worth listening too- not just because it’s fascinating internet knowledge or something to do while waiting in line somewhere- because there are some life lessons that go along with being an artist that have much broader application than publishing comics.,,, If you’re determined enough and driven enough to take full advantage of this chance then try out Neil Gaiman Masterclass yourself!
“Just finished taking the Neil Gaiman Masterclass, and I can’t recommend it enough. The lectures were informative and interesting. This course is for anyone who wants to learn about writing comic books and any creative process in general. The video tutorials included with this class are very easy to follow, often leading me to try things out before even looking at the lecture or reading through topics that could be tedious if just read outloud sentances of words on a page–and it was fun.”
Excellent course. The foundation of the masterclass is in captivating storytelling which Neil Gaiman is an expert at–in his books, essays, comics and TV interviews. As he teaches you how to tell stories effectively, he leads you on a fascinating journey through some of the most memorable tales from history as well as those from his own literary canon. It’s clear that this man knows a lot about every aspect of crafting a compelling story – plot arc, good dialogue, interesting characters, evergreen themes – everything needed to make something people will want to read over and over again…. i praise this course.
I first heard about Neil Gaiman and started his books because I had just finished reading Catcher in the Rye. His stories were suspenseful and gripping, and I found that it was interesting how he put his own take on fairy tales for adults. In high school, my English teacher required us to write a “literary analysis” piece on The Little Mermaid–a project which is now available as a Masterclass from Neil himself!
I am definitely going forward with this masterclass!
If you’re not already a Neil Gaiman fan, this course probably isn’t for you. If you are, prepare to be quite disappointed with the ways in which he’ll fail to live up to your expectations. “Neil Gaiman Masterclass” primarily goes over simple principles of storytelling–basic stuff many other courses will also cover far better than Mr. Gaiman does here–but without enough nuance or intricacy necessary for deeper writing skills development.
After expecting to be disappointed, I found myself subscribing for this class. Neil is like the ultimate teacher, you could literally learn something new every day! The type of stuff you can teach with is super interesting too and not just comic writing. In one class he taught me how to use comics in history lessons, in another about linguistics and rhetoric or how to create short films from scratch or tons more. As long as your curious from where it all began until today when a lot of people go into a building in Manhattan in order write a story with words and pictures together on paper then this is the course for you!
The course is not anything like it sounds. It’s slow-paced and all of the fundamentals are never covered. My writing skills got worse instead of better after using this product, so I would suggest buying something else to get better overall skills.
“I have been writing comics for years and I wanted to get help from other writers. This class is a great opportunity! You can also listen to the lectures at your own time, so even if you are busy with work or have other commitments during the day, you will not miss any of Neil Gaiman’s lessons. “
Neil Gaiman has a great following, but online Masters can be expensive and his course is slow paced. Mostly other writers steer clear of it as the fundamentals like grammar and spelling aren’t covered.
I’ve always admired Neil Gaiman’s work on comics. His stories are uniquely intriguing and beautifully worded, which is why I was so excited about this masterclass on writing comic book! It turns out that I had finally found what I was looking for in the first place! This class offers so much insight not just as a writer but as a reader too. Now you can learn from one of the most prolific writers in your genre across comic books and novels alike.”
-This course is a disaster. I wasn’t provided with any basics about writing, and my instructor never commentated on anything else other than endless bad habits that I should fix to make myself a better writer. I learned ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING from this class.
I was really excited when I saw that this class existed and couldn’t resist picking it up. Normally, the classes I’ve taken at the community college haven’t been as engaging as this one. He’s a masterful storyteller who knows how to attract (or scare) an audience with his words. Gaiman is fun and witty throughout his lectures, providing insightful detail on topics like “description” and doing research before you start writing. There were also many unexpected takeaways from the class . IN TOTAL ,i am proud on my decision.
I personally don’t know why you would buy this, but if you do save your money because it’s not worth the cost. The course is painfully slow-paced. He doesn’t cover fundamentals like dialogue or general writing skills. I want my money back!
I hope my love for Neil Gaiman is not the cause of this biased review, but I can’t help it. This Masterclass was everything that I wanted to know about writing comic books and then some! It’s hard to explain, but once you watch it all or even just parts of it you’ll feel like you’re in on this little secret world that may be old hat for some people, but feels brand new if your genre is more traditional prose (like me). The best thing about this course though is how patient Neil Gaiman seems in explaining everything–even when he has written 3 highly successful novels and acclaimed comic book stories in his career he still teaches with a beginners’ mind. And THAT deserves recognition in my opinion.
Neil Gaiman seems to have forgotten about some important fundamentals. The pacing is slow from the very beginning and I didn’t pick up on a lot of the little details that authors need these days. Save your money for a more comprehensive class, or at least one that’s worth teaching you how to write as well as Neil does!
So first off, this is a fascinating account of an especially creative person’s day-to-day life. I loved how it interspersed some real world experiences with Gaiman’s thoughts on the creative process. Now, if you are someone who has never had any experience with making comics or graphic novels before – do not worry! Neil explains every step along the way in detail for both drawing and writing them since he had to learn all these skills himself when he was young too. He talks about his strengths as well as some advice that he wished someone would have given him when he was struggling creatively later in life. For me it was fun learning with him.
“This course is terrible. Neil Gaiman only goes over the basics of writing. There are many fundamentals of creative writing that are not covered at all.”
Putting aside the fact that Neil Gaiman is an incredible author, his approach to writing comic books will change your life. The Masterclass teaches you how to handle all-important tasks like plotting and structuring your graphic novel, finding inspiration for characters/scenes, developing villains outside of the supervillain trope, balancing drama with humor or sadness without diluting either emotions forces or creating melodrama by varying sentence length–but this one’s my favorite: Writing dialogue like karate where it sounds like people actually talking. The lessons are insightful and ultimately useful.
I’m a writer, and I’ve taken this course to learn the finer points of storytelling. It’s an introductory class for people who don’t understand creative writing or storytelling theory, but it goes all the way up to making your first book deal. The instructor is Neil Gaiman! And he’s pretty dang good at what he does…It comes with everything and hence i like the way he teaches and the facilities they provide.
I’ve been a fan of Gaiman since I first picked up American Gods, which is now one of my favorite pieces of literature. So when I discovered he was doing this course that would help me learn to write comic books as well as be a voice actor among other things, I had to give it a shot. In the class you find out about his life growing up and how he developed his voice for both writing and reading comics at an early age. You get tips on being more visual in your writing, choose good scripts lines to include, build suspenseful scenes using dialogue rather than action…the list goes on! This course has so much info crammed into 8 hours that are broken down into 7 video modules with exercises along the way to practice…if you are passionate then go with this.
Neil Gaiman has a way with words that he can’t help but share. In this Masterclass, you will learn from the legend himself in any one of five different courses: Beginning Writing, Advanced Writing from Personal Experience, Spider Woman from her point of view on Spider Goddesses in Myth and Fantasy Literature, Structuring Your Novel by Storytelling Techniques for Writers and Making Comics to tell your stories – perfect for aspiring novices in comics who want a world class course in creating sequential art. All proficiency levels are suited in Neil’s Masterclass!
I hated English until I enrolled in Neil Gaiman’s Masterclass for a novel. It has been the most adventurous and enlightening experience of my life! Course is lead by a legendary writer who patiently responds to us peons below his illustrious stature with witty and robust replies. Judge by yourself and do your part but trust me it was awesome for me (everything).
I find this product to be very beneficial. The course is also great because it unites all the necessary advice for an aspiring writer who wants to broaden their knowledge and skills. I’ve been a fan of Neil Gaiman books since my teenage years, which is when he gained recognition through his popular novels like Neverwhere and Coraline . What’s more, in addition to being a novelist, Neil Gaiman also wrote comic books in some capacity ranging from screenwriting and voice acting on titles such as Batman: Gotham Knight or working with series creator Mike Mignola on Hellboy In Hell , the final volume that was published last year. This Masterclass course spans lessons from prose writing, graphic design for comics to screenwriting techniques. Everyday writers will enjoy it.
“Neil Gaiman Masterclass. I was skeptical too until I saw how captivating these stories can be. And that’s not all–all skill levels are welcome, and the finished product is more than worth it! They’re like magic beans; they grow on you.”
The world famous author of multimillion-copy bestsellers, multimarket properties, TV/movie adaptations and more has announced the launch of his Masterclass. This course will be led by none other than Neil Gaiman himself! The class is for all levels–no matter what your current level of proficiency may be this class will help you grow as a writer. Plus if you were to learn from one of the most successful authors than it would give you such an incredible advantage over other writers in your genre or field who don’t have this knowledge! Don’t put off learning from one of the most prolific and captivating storytelling powers our generation has seen just because he’s feeling generous enough to offer these classes to everyone….it is all what i needed.
I’m kicking myself for not signing up for this course two months ago! If you want to learn how YOU can become a successful comic book writer, go no further. It takes hard work and dedication to succeed, but these 10 lectures by the world’s premier comics artist are pure gold. Not only is the material incredibly insightful, it also teaches valuable writing principles that are generalizable across all genres of art. Neil Gaiman Masterclass taught me more in one day than I’d learned during my last three years in junior high school English class!”
“Truly worth it. .If you want to become a comic book writer, sign up for the Neil Gaiman Masterclass right now.”
“I had no idea how much I didn’t know until this class.”
“The tools that were given by [Neil] and [his co-founder] Holly Black on things like characterization, plotting, dialogues really help me see how essential these skills are in creating meaningful stories.” “I RECOMMEND EVERY STUDENT TO TRY THIS IF THEY ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT THEIR HOBBY”
Great course for people who want to be comic book artists and writers themselves. The lectures are well timed and easy to understand. Many people will always deem comics as a children’s genre and incapable of sophisticated storytelling. However, the Neil Gaiman Masterclass proves that this is not an accurate portrayal of modern comics – he manages to combine all aspects into one! I was delighted with his understanding of different genres, how they interact with each other, and what modules we can take from them to improve our own work. He brushed up all my unedged corners.
I am a huge Neil Gaiman fan and this class was phenomenal. Neil is not only a legendary, award winning author of enchanting literature, but he is also one of the more humorous business owners I’ve seen. The way he learned how to tap into his own creativity will stay with me forever!
I used to work at a bookstore, and one of my coworkers would always quote from Neil Gaiman’s Death talking to someone about the meaning of life. I took his advice and bought this course, which is cheaper than a lot of college courses on writing or creative writing! This class has something for everyone that wants to write anything creatively: fantasy, sci-fi, journalism. They provide everything a student needs .
I love Neil Gaiman and I was really excited to learn about his Masterclass. The course is appropriately named, because he is a master at writing not just any old prose, but also comic book. He breaks it down into an eight-week autobiography of his journey to being one of the most renowned writers in that genre today with funny anecdotes along the way. This course would be great for anyone who wants help crafting their own story or delving deeper into character development. From starting wth nothing on page to breaking down your characters so they are believable entities on paper – you found your new best friend. You can’t go wrong with this class!
I was skeptical at first to buy this course, but after listening to the teaser for Neil’s lesson I renewed my subscription and understood that he has a lot of knowledge and insight that can lead me deeper into writing and storytelling.
Aside from all his best advice by far what I will remember most is when he said “don’t make things easy” because it reminded me about how much the reader never wants the story they’re immersed in to end….this course taught me a lot and i am so thankful to this.
This class is great for people who want to learn about comic book writing. Neil Gaiman has had a lot of experience in this genre, both as an artist and writer. He gives you all kinds of good advice that’s specific to the comic book world, like how many panels you should use per page depending on what your idea is, or when it’s time to stop storyboarding because you’re out of strips; don’t end with mere cliffhangers (which are really cheap) but instead try hardcore misdirections. If I was interested in making comic books for my own pleasure, I would recommend taking this Masterclass!
Neil Gaiman Masterclass is one of the latest updates in the world of internet-based courses. I used to write comics, love all things related to it, and Neil Gaiman really offers a great insight into what you need to know when writing comic books. He has spent his adulthood perfecting his craft and he’s done so well at imparting this knowledge on others with the updated course called Neil Gaiman Masterclass. The prices are fair for students who want their work appreciated by others, especially if fiction writers feel like they would like to make more money through publishing novels as comic book stories first….They opened a lot of doors for me and i encourage that.
“This is undoubtedly one of the best writing courses I’ve ever taken. Neil Gaiman’s captivating style and humor made it easy to follow instructions, and his examples from his own work were relevant and engrossing. “How many times do you re-read your favorite books? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Neil Gaiman is my favorite author of all time, and this course is really practical than just reading it yourself.”

I’m not sure what I expected when I ordered this class. Probably something more intellectual, which might have been boring to be honest, but it’s really not. Neil is funny and very open about his way of writing comics for lots of different audiences – he told us that he hadn’t read much in college because what you’re studying doesn’t matter all that much to your future career choice if you plan on being creative. You’ll find out things like how “good vs evil” stories are the oldest narratives in existence and try to keep up with his rambling train of thought while still getting some valuable insight into both life and literature….i make sure that if you like me then this is what you need most.
Check this out! I tried the course and I absolutely loved it. The thing that struck me as most impressive was that Neil Gaiman’s enthusiasm for storytelling shines through his exposition of the techniques he used to write comics. As a lifelong fan who has read well over a hundred comic books, I found this course to be equal parts enlightening and inspiring. For anyone interested in writing comic books, this is an excellent—and even more importantly—concise resource on craftsmanship. AWESOME.
Neil Gaiman’s Master class is a MUST for any person who has ever wanted to create their own comics. He talks about the importance of style and how to accomplish that in action.
