What Is Permalink And How To Get Permalink ? 2024

Affiliate disclosure: In full transparency – some of the links on our website are affiliate links, if you use them to make a purchase we will earn a commission at no additional cost for you (none whatsoever!).

You might be wondering how to get a permalink. I’m here to tell you that it is not as hard as you might think! First, you need to sign up for an account on WordPress.com or a self-hosted WordPress site.

Then, go into Settings > Permalinks and choose the custom option under “Common Settings”. From there, all you have to do is enter in your desired URL structure.

For example, if my blog was called “The Writer’s Blog” then I would want the permalink structure set up so that posts are automatically redirected by default with links.

I want to share my experience of how I was able to get a permalink for my blog post, which is the most important thing that you need if you are running a blog.

You can search online and find many articles about this subject but I will give you some tips on how to do it the easiest way possible. Firstly, make sure your website is hosted on WordPress or another blogging platform.

Secondly, create an account with Google Adsense-Google’s advertising network-to earn money from your posts by placing ads in them.

Thirdly, publish at least one post before applying for permalink because they will check if there are any violations of their terms of use agreement before approving your request.

“We are all looking for new ways to make our blog posts more successful. One of the best things you can do is create a permalink. A permalink is what shows up on your browser when you click on an article or post. It’s usually something like “example-post” and has only numbers, letters, and dashes in it.”

“A lot of people think that they need someone else to give them their URL (which is also called a domain name). But this isn’t true! You can register your own domain name with any number of different companies and start using it immediately.”

Steps To Get Permalink-

Step 1: Make sure you have installed WordPress on your server.

Step 2: Login to your cPanel and click on File Manager under Files section.

Step 3: Create a folder called “WordPress” in the public_html directory of your hosting account and upload all WordPress files, including index.php file inside it.

Step 4: Now, go to the public_html directory and click on wp-login.php file and rename it as index.php file by right clicking on it and selecting the edit option.

Step 5: Now open index.php file in your favorite text editor and paste the following code at the top of this file:

Step 6: Now, open the wp-config.php file in your favorite text editor and paste the following code at the bottom of this file and start editing the file.

Step 7: After you have edited the file, paste the following code in it before “That’s all, stop editing!” line:

Step 8: That’s all. Now your bot is ready to use. Open any browser and enter <server ip>/bot in the address bar. Copy and Paste the step by step procedure from above text in your browser.

Step 9: You can copy your WordPress bot code and use it in any browser, but make sure you change the codes accordingly.

The Importance of Permalink-

When you start with a blog the very first thing is to put your most important article on top and then continue writing new articles after that.

When someone visits your blog he sees the complete list of posts that you’ve made for this blog and then clicks on any post which looks most interesting to him or her.

Now the problem with the above-mentioned method is that if some other person wants to read your blog then he or she may have to visit every single post on your blog first and then see which post looks more interesting.

People don’t like wasting their time on anything. If you are reading any article of mine right now it means I wasted my time for you.

Well I don’t know if i wasted my time or not but it would be good for you to read this article. 🙂

The importance of permalink is that whenever someone types the name of your blog in the browser he sees only one page, which looks exactly like your homepage.

That means visitors don’t have to click on ‘older posts’ or ‘newer posts’ links. This is what is called permalink in technical language and you can see it on the top of this page right next to my blog title.

The reason why you should do this is that if anyone wants to write about your blog in his or her own blog or anywhere else then he can just link back to your homepage. More links are always good for the SEO of your site.

However, sometimes people create pages on their sites that look exactly like a homepage but instead of writing an introduction there they write a list of links to their sites. If you do this as well then I suggest that the title of such a page should be ‘My Sites’ or ‘Sites by Name’ etc and not ‘Home’.

Advantages of Permalink-

If you want to get the same URL again and again, then you should consider using the permalink. This will help in saving your time and effort while fetching the same link each time.

Permalink is a very useful tool for SEO purposes. If you offer your content with permanent URLs it will also help you to come high in the search engine results. There is no need to search for the same URL again and again.

The permanent link can also be used to track visits on your blog page or article. Visitors are directed with that particular permalink each time they land on that specific webpage that you have mentioned in that permalink.

The article that you are about to read is intended to provide an overview of the advantages of using permalinks when creating content in WordPress. More precisely, it will cover the technical benefits resulting from the proper use of permalinks.

It is recommended before reading this article, you are already familiar with the concept of “permalink” and its function in WordPress.

A word about permalinks in general, if you are not familiar with them, please read this article first.

Disadvantages of Permalink-

Permalinks can be hard for web users to type correctly. Unambiguous URLs might not exist because page names such as “Main Page” will change as a website changes. If there is only one version of an article permalink, it becomes difficult to find other versions.

Search engines also have a tough time indexing permalinks. A page that has been moved may not be indexed for its new address, despite having the same content as before. Additionally, because search robots crawl sites at set times, articles with recently changed permalinks may not be included in the initial crawling process.

Permalinks for web content are in danger of becoming outdated, especially when the content is dynamic. Content-management systems allow for permalinks to be regenerated on each request or even with each hit on a page for performance reasons. This means that the original URL may not exist anymore.

In addition, if the URL of a page changes, all incoming links from other sites become outdated.

This can cause people to click on non-existent pages and lose their way on your site. In most cases, redirects can help you avoid this problem and can be set up to automatically forward people to the correct destination.

If you use permanent URLs, there’s also a chance that your site will contain broken links because those URLs don’t change if the page location changes. To avoid this problem, it’s typically necessary to monitor incoming links for all pages and redirect them as necessary.
