To check this, go to your desktop. Then click on the apple icon which is in the upper left corner. Next, select ‘About This Mac’.

A new dialog box will appear. Select ‘More info..’> ‘Disc burning’. Then check the disc formats that can be written, if it is CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, etc. If it contains ‘-R’ and ‘-RW’, DVDs can be burned.

Follow the steps below to burn a DVD on mac.

Step 1.

Go to the desktop.

Step 2.

Create a new folder and give it a name.

Step 3.

Drag and drop or copy-paste the files, folders, or data you want to burn in the CD or DVDs.

Step 4.

Find the new folder, then double-click on the folder name to open it.

Step 5.

Click on the gear button which is at the top of the folder dialog box.

Step 6.

Choose “Burn the folder name to Disc…”.

Step 7.

Now you will need a blank writable CD or DVD to be inserted into the disc drive or optical drive.

Then click on “Burn” to start burning.

When the process of burning is complete, the finder will mount the disc.

How to Burn a Data CD or DVD in Mac OS X?

To burn a CD or DVD in Mac OS X, follow these steps:

Step 1.

Firstly, you will need a blank CD or DVD to burn. Insert the blank CD or DVD into the drive of the mac.

A new window will open, there under the ‘Action’ menu, choose ‘Open Finder.

Step 3.

Then come below on that page and click on the ‘ok’ tab.

Step 4.

This way, a new finder window will be opened and the blank CD or DVD should appear on the sidebar of the window.

Step 5.

Next what you have to do is to drag and drop the files you want to burn. Drop it on the option of CD or DVD you see on the sidebar.

Step 6.

When you are done with copying files to the CD or DVD, click on the Burn option there.

Step 7.

Another new window will appear. Type the name you want to keep for the CD or DVD, in the field saying Disc Name.

Step 8.

Once again click on the Burn button. It will start burning the disc.

Step 9.

When the process of burning is complete, the finder will mount the disc.

How to Burn an Audio CD?

To burn an audio CD, suppose you want to copy some music to the CD; you can do it using iTunes.

Follow the steps below to proceed.

Step 1.

Launch iTunes on your Mac.

Step 2.

Then add music to your library.

Step 3.

Next, select the music you want to be copied on the CD. Right-click after selecting them.

Step 4.

Then select “New Playlist from Selection”.

This way, you have created a new playlist.

Step 5.

Click on the newly created playlist you see in the Music Library.

Step 6.

Then click on File and select Burn Playlist to Disc.

Step 7.

Then another dialog box named Burn settings will appear to you.

Step 8.

Check the settings and make alterations according to your need.

After that, click on the Burn option below.
